French toast gets a delightful Yuletide makeover with Christmas bread and a dash of cinnamon.

 

Yuletide French Toast

25 g butter, melted

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 egg

150 ml milk

½ tsp cinnamon

5 to 6 slices of Christmas bread

 

Preheat the oven to 200 °C. Mix together the butter and sugar. In a shallow dish, such as a soup plate, mix together the egg, milk and cinnamon, then stir in the butter mixture. Dip the bread in the mixture, then place in a 1.7 l oven dish. Bake on the bottom rack for 15 minutes. Let cool a bit and then serve with jam and whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
